How to achieve a goal

Earlier I talked about goals that are more subjective, like “having a great vacation in Seattle.” I want to talk about the steps involved in achieving a more objective goal, like “Making 100,000 next year.”

Here are the steps to achieving the goal:

1) Make sure the goal is achievable, and that you believe you can do it. For example, if you only made 25K last year is it reasonable to assume you could make 4 times more, or is that goal so high in the sky that your unconscious mind says, “yeah right” and ignores it?

2) Work your way back and create action steps to achieve the goal. If you own a business, this would be your sales and marketing plan. If you are an employee you will need to figure out what needs to change to achieve your goal.

3) Figure out what you will get from achieving this goal, and how your life will be different.
Spend significant time on this, because you need to be very clear what you specifically want to get from achieving the goal. For example, if you want 100K because you want or need a new car, clarify what make, model, and color that car is. If it’s vacationing, figure out where you want to go, what you will be doing, and how much fun you will have. If it’s a new house, go house shopping and figure out everything you can about that ideal house.

Number 3 is the most important step, because when you are creating a goal with the “why” in mind in addition to magnetizing the intended result, you are also magnetizing all those things you want it for. It also opens you up to receiving everything you want in a different way than the one you pictured.

Let’s say you only got 90K, but your grandma called and told you she wants to sell you her amazing, almost new car for a great price, would you be happy? The result would be the same. You got what you really wanted, even if it didn’t show up the way you had planned.

The more real you can make that lovely story in your mind, the easier it will be to create it in the physical world. Start picturing what you most want today, right now, and you will be surprised at what magic you are able to create. Namaste.
